About This Workshop
This training will address whiteness in psychotherapy from different lenses. First, we will consider how to work clinically with a patient's expressions of whiteness in psychotherapy as it pertains to their therapeutic goals. Second, we will explore a systems-approach to addressing whiteness using safety planning/use of emergency services as an example.
Learning Objectives
Participants will be able to:
- Identify at least three tools that can address whiteness and racism in psychotherapy.
- Identify at least one situation in which it is likely not useful to address whiteness and racism in psychotherapy.
- Generally describe the systemic reasons why utilizing traditional emergency services like 911 and police are not appropriate for all patients.
- Identify at least two things you can implement in your practice to support a more diverse array of patients in times of crisis.
CE will be emailed to attendees who have completed the training evaluation.
We understand, sometimes things come up!
